KARL DONOVAN

Karl has been interested in electronic music since a very early age with his first ever record being Cars by Gary Newman. The early 80’s saw cassette deck copies of Electro being passed around and then Chicago hit the Manchester scene and a love of house music was formed from there.

Living in Manchester Karl was a regular at the Hacienda in the late 80’s early 90’s.

Karl's love of house continued through the decades and as he aged Soul and Disco have found their way onto his playlists over time.

Karl always fancied a go at Djing but it was wasn’t until coming out of covid his girls got me a 1/2 day DJ taster course in Manchester and that was it he was hooked.

The course was run by James Bowers a brilliant dj and Karl followed up with hours of lessons and then practised in his bedroom like a young teenager

In 2022 Karl got his first gig playing in a bar in Manchester and then having a holiday home in Portugal he created a mix and sent it to the owner of Julias beach bar and that then became a regular spot Karl played at on holiday.

In 2023 Karl moved to Portugal where he played most weeknds at Julias, along with private parties from clients who had heard me there.

2024 has been a game changer where Karl is now the resident DJ at the Lighthouse bar and grill and was introduced into the Forever 54 family after a facebook intro to our main man Mike Holmes. Karl has been supporting the brand on its events over in the Algarve and Karl is excited to see what the future holds with this fantastic brand and brilliant DJ line ups.

So to finish … Karl's style is a blend of all eras from classics to chill with funky soul and disco thrown in for good measure 😁
